Dr. Merril Knudtson

Dr. Merril Knudtson

Dr. Merril Knudtson was born in Camrose, AB. He worked as a Petroleum Landman for six years before deciding to enter the medical profession. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine. He studied cardiovascular medicine at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Knudtson returned to Calgary in 1981 to commence the Interventional Cardiology Program. He currently coordinates the APPROACH Project (Alberta Provincial Project for Outcomes Assessment in Coronary Heart Disease) which began in 1995. This consists of a database designed to determine long-term outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease. This database is currently being expanded to include patients from a growing number of other provinces as well.

Dr. Knudtson's experience and reputation is well known and he is a Member of many Advisory Boards.

Dr. Knudtson's free time is spent with his family enjoying the outdoors in the mountains and on their farm in the Calgary area. He enjoys working with their horses and plays a number of musical instruments.
